ANNUAL LETTER NO.40 YEAR 2024

13/12/2024

Annual Letter

Dear friends and partners in the faith,

We, the Sisters of the Community of St Mary, are taking this opportunity to greet you all in the Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

We thank God for giving us the opportunity of writing this annual letter as we  approach Christmastide and the New Year. We all have reasons to celebrate the coming Christmas; a glorious event and a moment to reflect on and appreciate God’s goodness as we remember the birth of Jesus Christ.

As we prepare ourselves for this celebration it is sad to remember that often in the modern, worldly lifestyle, there is a great gap between the rich and the poor. The ‘haves’ look after themselves, consuming plenty while unconcerned for others who are less fortunate and suffer great poverty, unable to afford anything to enjoy and celebrate the Christmas festival. Given our background, where peace and sharing  are two of the major Christian values, as we prepare to celebrate the Birth of our Saviour, who gave up everything for us, we must revisit these values.

On May 18th  2024 three sisters took their final vows at Sayuni, four Novices took their first vows and also three Postulants were clothed as Novices at Njombe  Sayuni.

ELECTION OF MOTHER SUPERIOR:

According to our constitution the Year 2024 was the time for the election of the Mother Superior for our Community, the Community of St.Mary. (CMM) After a time of preparation the election took place and Sr Anjelina CMM was elected. We thank God that the election was peaceful.
